Kicker Motor on a Bass Boat?

Post by ACP »

I know I'll catch a lot of s*** from you guys but, has anyone ever tried to mount a small kicker motor on their bass boat? I have a 20' Skeeter that I would like to make some kind of mount where I can take a 8 HP motor on & of for trolling with the family. Any ideas?

Call Skeeter

They might be able to have one of their walleye guys help you out.

I've seen it done but not up close.

We've got the Mercury 9.9hp Kickers in stock and the mounts/steering system you would need. Ask for Del in our Sacramento (Bradshaw/Micron) store.

He can set you up.

you need to call skeeter and see if your transom will be able to except the kicker.
if it does look at the garilick mounts they are s.s. and built proof. if you get a four stroke, you can run it off your main tank.
if you get a motor tie bracket to tie the motors together for steering, get the one with the quick connects so you can disconnect them when your not using the kicker. i found it was best to just lock the kicker straight and use your big motor to steer.

I don't think you can do that because of the low drafts on Bass boats. The additional 30+ lbs will make the boat sag. Some fish and skis can accept one.

Look into a trolling motor with a wireless remote.

Quite a few Kokanee fishermen I know use them, instead of kickers.
