HDS Carbon 16 wont update

I’ve downloaded the latest update both directly via WiFi and in a microSD card loaded on to my unit, but it won’t update. I get a message that the system sees the version (20) available and prompts to restart, but after multiple restarts, it is still stuck on version (4). Thoughts on what I am missing?

FWIW, the Carbon is networked to a Gen 3 - 7, a Gen 3 - 9 (both running 18.2), a 3D module and a Point 1 antenna.

My local shade tree mechanic thinks I may be jumping too many software version updates.

Help please.

Is your msd card is less then 32gig? If so, download the update from your computer to the card; quite often there is some problem when you download by wifi, it’s not stable.

First, backup backup all your waypoints, then do soft reset. If that doesn't work, do hard reset. I went through same thing. I've a 12 and 16. Its very obvious Lowrance does are horrible job of making sure upgrades work correctly. Yeah, they can chime in and say Oh No, we test everything, but truth is, you and I are only a few of the 100's that have had upgraded issues. If you have 3d strucscan, make sure to upgrade that first. Oh yeah Lowrance, did you forget to tell people that ?
I don't want to bash them anymore cause they don't listen. Good luck
I'm sorry, I forgot to mention, I'd recommend having all your units running the same version.

Thank you. Finally got it to go via the direct download and install once we got it back I. The shop right next to the wifi antenna. Similar with the 3D module. Finally have everything on the latest version. Hopefully they will all run and talk to each other when we get it back on the water.

Could be a result of running both Gen 3 and Carbon units on the same network, but I have never had so many compatibility issues and discrepancies between Lowrance customer service, a local dealer and 3rd party transducer support.

Here’s to hoping we can get back to focusing on fishing and not dealing with electronics issues for a while.
