Have you tried the new gamakatsu SKIP GAP HOOK yet?

Post by DvKid »

If you guys like fishing senkos or tubes this is the hook> It is damn near impossible to have your bait slide down the hook. I ve been using them over the EWG latley and i have had nothing but good things. Your know on the hook set how those tricky little EWGs like to bend sometimes? well this hook won't and another thing that i like is that my hook ratio is better then it has ever been.
Shoot my partner and pretty much everyone that i have recommened them to has bought um up like candy. So if you get a chance give them a try.

I'm going to Now! I hadn't even heard it. That's the price you pay, to live in the Boonies. Thanks Josh

It is an awesome hook!

The one thing I will say is if you fish a 3/0 EWG you should probably use the 4/0 Skip Gap. It seems the Skip Gap 3/0 is a liitle smaller the the 3/0 EWG.

Give them a shot you will love them.

You guys should also try the eagleclaw r-bend. I use them on C-rigs mostly but sometimes also senkos and t-rigs.

My only concern with this hook is the depletion of action out of soft stick baits such as Senkos. Any thoughts?

Guys, I guide here in Georgia. The past 7 days me and my clients have put over 300 bass in the boat on the Skip Gap hook/Senko combo. I LIKE this new hook and the hook up ratio is outstanding even for my older clients that have a weaker hookset.

I do see room for improvement tho. They solved the problem for the head of the worm sliding down with the skip gap bend but thre is a slight problem keeping the worm straight at the hook point area. YOu can tex pose it and this will help alot but they need more of a EWG bend to keep the senko from sliding up the hookpoint. Hard to tell you without showing you. But at any rate it's a DAMN good hook from my experiences thus far.
