I have used mono 20lb big game for 18 years for flipping, and have been reel happy with it. Recently I have tried braid it is way more sensitive you can feel everything. But what a pain in the butt. You can't really flip with it because it will cut your hand after 10 flips. You can't fish wood that well because it is so limp. Your drag has to just right so the line doesn't dig in the spool, or worse break a rod on a hook set - which now becomes more of a just reel the fish in. You have to be careful if you cast to hard and get a backlash because then it is all over you need to get a blow torch to now cut you line off you spool. I like to set the hook hard with mono --it's fun for me. I am sure braid has it's place, but not in my boat. I can know say I have tried it --have the scars to prove it ---but back to mono for me. Yes - I do not try new things very often. If it aint broke.

Flipping ---Mono to braid back to mono
Re: Flipping ---Mono to braid back to mono
Derrick, I would have to agree with you all the way. I fish mono 100% of the time. I don't even like the Florocarbon, but thats just me. Green mono is the way to go for me. I use 25lb. test for flipping and I pulled some big frog fish out of the mush no problem with 25lb. also. I've broke off my share of fish but thats part of the game. I can't wait to get back in the game this Sunday. Good luck and God Bless.
