Fisherman docked at SF pier had more than 2,000 pounds of illegal halibut, salmon
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A fisherman in San Francisco hid fillets of salmon behind a false wall on their boat docked at Pier 45 in an attempt to deceive authorities, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) announced Monday. In all, officials said the commercial trawl boat owner was caught with over 2,000 pounds of unlawfully caught fish not declared for retail sale.
The angler was under surveillance by CDFW when wildlife officers said they watched them unload a number of burlap sacks off of the boat and into a vehicle. After the fisherman left the scene, authorities found them at a restaurant where they attempted to hide their fish and flee, according to officials.
The boat owner had several halibut, sole, sanddabs and filleted salmon in their possession, which had not been declared as commercial catch as required, CDFW said. Officials found and seized an additional 2,365 pounds of halibut in the investigation.

chances are they are illegal aliens and will be set free with no repercussions!
Re: Fisherman docked at SF pier had more than 2,000 pounds of illegal halibut, salmon
They should have repossessed everything. Probably just wrote em a ticket and let them walk.
That's my gripe about all of the border jumpers they allowed in. They can do what they want with zero repercussion. They don't need to buy a license or fish by the rules and that goes with pretty much everything. How do you give them a ticket? No Habla no nothing while we pay out our azz.

Where is there any indication or evidence in that article that this was done by an illegal alien?
Re: Fisherman docked at SF pier had more than 2,000 pounds of illegal halibut, salmon
No mention of penalties the perps haven’t been to court yet. The usual protocol is confiscation of the boat and all equipment, fines follow conviction.

One indication is that they didn't give the names of the poachers. Jeez, they poached well over $20K worth of fish and all the article said was a complaint was submitted to the SF DA's office (which isn't going to anywhere). The seized halibut was sold (probably for cat food) and the measly funds were donated to the fish and game preservation fund. This is a damn joke.
Why do any of us pay the fee's we pay or obey the law?

Re: Fisherman docked at SF pier had more than 2,000 pounds of illegal halibut, salmon
This happen at Eastman there was a guy fishing in big boat anchored by some tree when the lakes was way up i was fishing the back side of the big tree he has on the was using minnows he would catch a bass the limit was one bass at the time 22 Inches well I catch 3 or 4 smaller fish so i pulled my trolling motor up and idled out back towards the main lake. As I was getting out of the 5 mph area here come a DFG guy in and unmarked boat I knew him so I said you need to check the big boat anchored next to the big tree and bushes back in the back. He did and the guy in the boat had and ice chest with 28 bass in it. This guy didn't even try to hide it. Well he got wrote for 27 bass over the limit. He ending going to court got fined $2000.00 lost his boat/car all fishing gear and was not allowed to possess any poles or gear or fish licence for 8 years. Court use to be held up at bass lake that judge was not a nice guy when it come to over limit or boat violations.

Only stupid thing about it is governor nutsack tying to hide 1.85 million of them all before Jan 20th
This is a family oriented forum according to the western bass guy so we can't use those types of words like F ing in this forum.
Look out Tom Homan & the Feds are coming Jan 20th to a state or town near you.

it’s been SOP for California’s liberal media to omit the immigration status and citizenship of people committing crimes in their news coverage!

Not so much so when you consider Ca is a sanctuary state. Do think they would release that information if they are?Mienace wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 11:07 pmStupid fucking comment!birdman920 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 4:27 pm chances are they are illegal aliens and will be set free with no repercussions!
Re: Fisherman docked at SF pier had more than 2,000 pounds of illegal halibut, salmon
So… I’ve been a longtime member but stopped visiting because… well, to see a factual report about poaching that includes zero indication of illegal immigration devolve into a political post where people keep piling on is not a good sign IMO. Where are the fishing discussions? Why does everything have to be political in a thread that had zero political coloring until people made it so? The press release mentions that this was done by the owner of commercial fishing vessel, btw. Somebody with a business license etc., not exactly the haven of illegal immigration.
Just as some kinda-outside perspective

Re: Fisherman docked at SF pier had more than 2,000 pounds of illegal halibut, salmon
Going through the post history of the people fanning the flames is discouraging, btw. Every contribution to every thread is some unmotivated political post about illegal immigration or politics in general, even when the post didn’t have that indication. Nothing just talks about fishing. That sucks IMO. Turns WesternBass into “WesternImGonnaAirMyPoliticalGrievancesAndMakeItHardToTalkAboutBass”.
Re: Fisherman docked at SF pier had more than 2,000 pounds of illegal halibut, salmon
What are they hitting?
Re: Fisherman docked at SF pier had more than 2,000 pounds of illegal halibut, salmon
It's political because the politics in CA allow this crap to happen.
I bet their first and last names start with an X or Z. It really doesn't matter what race they are because the outcome on the fishery is the same.
Chinese are buying up the country and have taken over the illegal marijuana grows in this state. It's not a far reach to think that their backers are able to purchase a few fishing vessels to rape the ocean floor. Why not since they pretty much get away with anything especially in the Bay. You Lib's think the state cares about you and the environment. All they care about is themselves and their party and the hell with everything else.
Drakestar, don't you know forums are dying off? Forums are for old people that have nothing better to do than bitch.

I want illegals gone as much as the next guy but assuming this was done by an illegal alien is pretty absurd.
