Favorite Drop Shot Baits

Post by ttb31183 »

The great thing about using a drop-shot is that just about any soft plastic will work. Over the years doing it, I have tried just about every shape, size and color of soft plastics on the market. My favorites over the past year are all over the board. What are your go-to baits?

Here is what worked well for me last year:

As you can see there are a bunch of them. The old faithful Roboworm Straight Tail, Keitech Sexy Impact, Roboworm Sculpin, Shad Shape style bait and Biovex Kolt Stick.

Most of these I fish both Texas-rigged and nose-hooked with the exception of the Kolt stick which I wacky-rig most of the time. It works great for smallmouth and that bright white color seemed to do the best.

One more that I didn't even mention is the YUM Kill Shot that's shown below.

So many to choose from and they all have their time and place.

My favorite is a 4 inch Yamamoto Kut Tail. The color was a laminate color combo that they no longer make. I still have a bag or 2 of that color somewhere in my stuff.

My favorite is the Berkley Havoc Bottom Hopper in Smoke Purple or Black with Blue Flake. This year I am going to try the New PowerBait Shaky Snake.
There are always new places to go fishing. For any fisherman, there's always a new place, always a new horizon.

I like the Zoom Z-drop, trick worm, roboworm, shad shape and have even used smallie beavers and tiny brush hogs. I use the trick worm in the spring time in the delta. One of the most consistent numbers bait for me for some time now. I use it mostly vertically even in shallow water all over the delta. Just shake it in place.
