Evinrude Repair

Post by monte300 »

Since I’ve relied on Boatmasters for over 30 years for engine repairs, I’m out of touch with other options in the area. Should I be unlucky enough to need internal engine repairs on my 2000 175hp direct injected Evinrude Ficht outboard, are there any qualified repair shops in the Stockton/Tracy/Oakley areas?

Not in the area you listed, but a little further. Bob’s Marine in Modesto would do you right. Al has been wrenching on Evinrudes for decades.

Al can work on those Evinrudes with his eyes closed but Bob's doesn't want to work on Evinrude's anymore. If you went down there in person and asked nicely they may hook you up. There is no warranty work done there however.

Thanks fellas warranty work doesn’t concern me with a 24 year old motor. I guess this means Paradise Point in Stockton won’t work on them?

monte300 I know your pain i have a 1976 monark with a 850 thunderbolt merc we have 3 marine dealerships and none will work on it. Said it to old. T&L marine in sanger tony took care of me with parts and rebuild carbs. And it still runs great today with on issues.
Now I just bought a 1987 395vs ranger with a 225 Yamaha excel with 183 hours on the motor
It been stored 16 years covered in a big shop I ask the same 3 dealerships if they would service the motor and check it all out they told me
They dont work on any bass boat under 1995
Tony at T&L said he would care of me first thing he ask is the motor fuel injected its is not.
I'm also going to give bobs marine a call tomorrow. Tony @ T&L has been having health problem with his heart. So I'm not putting pressure on him to get it running. So I'm going to see if Bob's may be able to work on it as a second choice. As it is a Yamaha.
Also what gets me the new dealerships try too sell you something you dont need. One of the dealership was even bold enough to ask me if I want repower new 225 for my ranger

This is where I took my 04 225. They did fine by me. I’m not disappointed in the service, I had them replace water pump too and it was all reasonable price point for me.

Thanks Beezer, obviously I’m hoping for no internal engine issues. I’m hoping when I need things like lower end grease and impeller changes done I can get that done at paradise point or some other place reasonably close to Whiskey Slough, where my boat is stored.
