Enclosed Boat Storage, Delta
Enclosed Boat Storage, Delta
A remodel dictates that my Ranger goes from my garage to boat storage for the winter. Thinking of enclosed storage at one of the marinas on the delta. Was pretty set on this idea until a local boat storage place said "Delta is fine but you'll have rats gnawing on your upholstery even if its enclosed storage". Anyone experience or heard of this type of problem? I want to say he was spreading some FUD but I want to draw on the collective wisdom of the forum for advice. Thanks to all.

They have some great enclosed units over at Orwood..I don't think rats will be a problem..

Thank you Mac. I'm on Orwood's waiting list. I went to a few local enclosed storage yards here in the South Bay and they brought up the issue of the rats WRT wiring and upholstery. It did make me post a message so I guess they were successful on the FUD end.

Russos has great secure storage, not enclosed but covered, with electrical, and no rats. I have kept my boat there along with a bunch of other bass guys and have never had any issues. Also you get free launches while keeping the boat there and they put you in and pull you out within minutes. Chuch and his crew keep a close eye on the place 365 days.

Thank you, Zack.
My boat cover is the light travel version, not the heavier storage version that Ranger offered as an option. Not sure how the former will hold up for the winter so I'm leaning toward enclosed storage. Thinking of putting a Golden Rod in the rod locker and keeping the travel cover on even in enclosed storage. I know those Golden Rods work well in gun safes. I'll just leave the lids up on the compartments that aren't carpeted.
