Elite 5 HDI Shutting Down

I am having an issue with my Lowrance Elite 5 HDI randomly shutting down. This happens every trip consitantly, sometimes when I am just fishing without being on the trolling motor, every time i turn the engine on.

I am not sure where to start, I used the same connection point as my previous X99 from the bow but put in the new wiring and fuse connection that came with the Elite 5. I feel as though there may be a short or volt drop but im not sure what the line voltage should be from the wire before the fuse, after the fuse and to the unit.

Can the experts give me some clarity? PS i have never updated the firm ware and I started noticing this after about my third trip out with the unit.

Call Lowrance Customer Care at 1-800-628-4487

It might be a problem with the unit itself.

My HDS-7 was doing the same thing. I upgraded to a bigger crank battery and that seems to have solved the problem. Mine would turn off and restart every time I started my big motor because there was not enough power to maintain the unit with the motor cranking. Hope that helps.
