:?: Dual Pro 3 bank charger?

Post by split172 »

I have a dual pro 3 bank charger rigged on my boat. This morning I go check it out and the 2cnd bank is flashing 3 red bars. Is this telling me my battery is bad? The others are green, so that is what i am assuming. Any info appreciated, Rob.

assuming it was working before...That be a bad battery I'd think. I just installed mine and I was good on the trolling motor batteries but asz backwards on the crank battery...It showed the same thing until I put the black wire on the neg. post...Dough ...She works fine now. You can try moving battery wires around to see if the problem moves with it...That would make it a battery and not a connection.

You can pull the battery and take it to Pep Boys, or any place that sells batteries, and they can test it for you.

Before you go buying a battery, besure to take the Pro Charger
bank that is blinking and swap it with one that is green lighted.

If the problem moves, its the bat, if that bank keeps blinking you have lost a bank on your charger, which is quite common on Dual Pro 3 banks. I am on my third Dual Pro and have lost a bank on everyone of them (I know, I know, why do I still use Dual Pro?)

Is it a new charger? The newer chargers will turn off a bank and flash three red bars indicating that bank got warm. Unplug and plug back in and it will reset itself and begin charging.

Split,
Read exactly what 619 said - he is correct.

You have overheated the charger. Try leaving the lid open to wherever yours is mounted and re-charge. it will work fine.

I know, mine is installed under the NB seat, and it started doing the same thing. i now lift the seat and tie it open while charging. havent had a problem since.

Good luck,

rob,

I thinks its just the fact you bought a counterfit ranger. theres know way you found a real ranger with 3 hrs for that price. I found this web site www.fakeranger.com and your boat was on the main page. its really a basstracker 185 coated if fiberglass and it was made in tj....

Rob,

U had the same issue wit hmy dual pro 3 bank charger. I found it was a weak battery. If the battery goes dead the charger won't work apparently. What I did instead of bouying a new battery was to use a 10 amp car charger for about 20 minutes. That bave it enought charge for the dual pro to work.. The battery has never failed in the boat, but I guess I really drained it the time it wouldn't charge. But I would say it is the battery. But definitely put the batter on another set of cables on the dual pro to determine that is isn't the charger. I have had a bad bank in my charger before too.

As far as repairs go, you better hope its still under warranty! If not its still about $100 to get it fixed and shipped. Or, they will give you like $50 for your unit, and send you a refurb for some rediculous amount of money. Better off just spending a couple hundred bucks on a new one.
