Crappie fishing....

Been thinking about getting dad out for some crappie fishing, anyone know about what time of year the crappie school up. I remember one year we got on some crappie at Melones if I remember right it was late Augest and it was crazy, fish after fish for as long as we stayed on that spot, any help would be appreciated thank you.
