Congratulations Carl Jocumsen at the Open

Post by Steve_Morgan »

Just a quick note to congratulations to number one Aussie bass angler - Carl Jocumsen - on his second placing in the US Open (AAA).

This kid is the number one money earner on the Australian tour and has been ranked #1 here since the system was instigated. He is at the Open due to a trip he won at our Championship event in 2008, courtesy of Skeeter Australia.

In short, he is one of our fishing freaks - I'm sure he contributed heavily to his bags.

Watch out if he ever gets hold of a boat over there - he's turned plenty of us into 'donators'!

Cheers,

Steve Morgan

The bass fishing "internationals" more than held their own in this year's Open and it makes the event just that more relevant around the world.

You Aussies keep coming! I hear you guys have to travel even farther than Stockton... :D

jb,

Carl said he was fishing 2lb Fireline Crystal with a heavier leader for better casting distance and feel.

We (Aussies) tend to fish much lighter than you guys - buy the bite before worrying how we're going to land it.

Should have seen some of my co-anglers' faces when I fished 3 and 4lb FC at Clear Lake last year!

:)

I think that could be a lake record and he needs to look into that. I doubt anyone fishes 2lb test and then to catch a 3+ on it should put his name in the record books and help out.

jb,

2lb Crystal breaks closer to 8 than 2.

Thanks for the post Steve. Please tell Craig I said hello. Carl did a great job at the Open. I loved his speech. He did it very well and I could listen to his accent for hours. I hope I get the honor of fishing with him some day.

Gary,

Firstly, congratulations of the new title. Is there anything out west that you haven't won yet? I know that when you fished with Simmo, you'd won more glass bass boats that we actually had in the whole country! Luckily we actually have you covered now ....

Secondly, you know what we're like hosting anglers - Strader, North, Boyd have all come and experienced the BARRA Tour. Even the late Mike Kennedy did a trip. Phil's done our Australian Fishing Championships TV show here. Didn't really understand what he said, but he at least bent a few rods. Think he even destroyed a couple of your own on some barra-gone-wild. We'll sort you out if you ever haul your *** out here.

Say g'day to Richard for me.

Cheers,

Sorry I missed you on this trip Steve. Say hello to Carrie and Simo for me and keep in touch with us over here more often. Don't worry we don't understand Strader half the time either.

The Aussie guys have made a bunch of good friends over here and someday I want to fish over there with them.

I will be coming over there soon. It's always been something I've wanted to do. Richard still talks of the day you guys had in the boat. He says you're a fish catching machine. Don't worry about Strader, we don't understand him half the time either :D :D There is a tournament in the works. It's an international gig with Japan, Korea, and we're hoping a bunch of you guys. As it comes together, I'll get the info to you.

Also, going to be doing a little hunting this year with your buddy Harry. The world is getting smaller.
