Buzzbaits vs Ploppers
Buzzbaits vs Ploppers
Do y'all prefer buzzbaits or ploppers? Personally, I definitely lean towards buzzbaits. I have way more confidence in them and have been catching bass for much much longer with buzzbaits.

Both! Why limit yourself?
Buzzbait can be fished through grass better and can be extra noisy with clackers....in open water I'd lean towards the trebles especially if they're just slashing at it. When the top water bite is really slow early or late in the season, I have more confidence in the buzz. All depends on what the fish want. I've caught lot's of fish over 8lbs on both.
This lean 9+ ate a white plopper

Hey Jiigin’ - what do you do when you have skirt material that’s all stuck together, besides manually picking it apart?

Re: Buzzbaits vs Ploppers
I tie all my skirts this way for maximum flare on my Spinnerbait Buzzbaits and Blade baits
umbrella skirts i also add the tail in one piece or I split them. Using upholstery thread
with no glue on the thread. Thread locks in the skirt material. And it a no fail way to tie.
I also build some of my jigs with the same pattern

Re: Buzzbaits vs Ploppers
Time and place for both but I throw a buzzbait more. Haven’t been on a good Plopper bite since the first year they came out.

I’m on the same page as Big Daddy. I like the plopper for open water. Summertime spots crush that bait. Buzz bait in cover and dirty water.

The Brabec BuzzBait is hard to beat in the double buzzer, quad blade or even mini that thing flat catches fish. For me the popper is not a great locate bait but an excellent target bait - long casts specific opening or target - bloop, bloop bloop.............................(dramatically long pause) BLOOP!! kersplashJL wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 9:34 amYou and your son make a MEAN BUZZBAIT!Dave Brabec wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 9:21 am Time and place for both but I throw a buzzbait more. Re: Buzzbaits vs Ploppers
It is usually situational and don’t be afraid to alternate. IMO- On the delta the water level has to be just right to increase your success probability. If the tide is too high it’s tough to get the fish to chase it, but if it’s just right, where there is sparse grass on the surface and the majority of grass 3-4” below the water line watch out. The window can be small. If you’re big game hunting throw a squeaky double buzz with HT trailer in black or white. Keep it simple on the colors and don’t get frustrated if you only get a few bites because
they will usually be the right ones.-
