Broken MotorGuide Trolling Motor Cable

Post by Schneider Fishing »

So I get to lake Perris on Sunday for the season ending Won Bass Tournament. Dan backs me in the water. I drop the trolling motor down. Put my foot on the pedal and snap. There goes my long cable. Fished the the day thanks to Bill loaning me a pair of vice grips (after of course he herases Dan and I for awhile because our buts are sticking up in the air while we both inspect the foot pedal). Rich I. says it's prettey easy to fix and did a good job explaining how to do it. I want to be back on the water this weekend. So does either Angler's Marine, Aim Marine of The Trolling Motor Doctor ship cables fast enough so I can fix it myself? Or do either Angler's Marine or Aim Marine replace broken trolling motor cables while you wait? The trolling Motor Doctor is too far away from Temecula to be a good option. And of course the trolling motor is about 2 1/2 years old. Don't they come with a two year warranty? LOL

Easy Fix. Anglers has the cables so does the trolling motor dr.. You need to know 1 thing.... The length of your cable. Just call either place and have it sent to you. Rick overnighted me 1 one time when I broke it at Havasu practiceing for an Everstart.

...roll by the Trolling Motor Doctor, he'd fix it for you in a matter of minutes; but call him first.

Thanks Ray and Ron.

Called Angler's and ordered both cables today.

The Trolling Motor Doctor is just too far away from Temecula to be practical. Need to get someone out here near Diamond Valley lake.

Slim chance of getting something in Hemet. It's so poor out there, grafity is taxed as a home improvement.

you're probably correct. But from Temecula the closest places are 50 miles away. Someday DVL is going be able to draw enough people to support my fishiing industry stuff besides last chance bait and tackle. There are two bait and tackle places in Temecula but there probably isn't enough business for more than one real good one.

I ordered the cable Monday evening (5:30ish P.M.). It arrived with the mail on Wednesday. I (the Mechanically challenged Math Teacher) fixed it on Thurday. WOW!! Tried it out and fished a little on Saturday.

I will defineitly add a pair of vice grips to my boat. Thanks Bill Ponting.

Thanks Rich for explaining to me how to run the new cable in the parkinglot on Sunday.
