80 lb braid?

Post by Derrick »

Anyone using it for flipping? I use 65 lb and was thinking of uping the line size to 80lb? I fish in muddy water so I am not worried about if the fish can see the line.

Ya plan to catch an 80 lb bass

I too have contemplated mega heavy braid (130 lb) but really, when is 80 lb gonna be better than 65 or really even 50 lb.
..........I understand the argument (heavier line can suffer more wear, than lighter line), but can't you retie a little more often, or just try to rip the lips off, instead of the fish's entire face

Just doesn't seem necessary,

80 lb in the heaviest matts with the frog or punching. Another advantage is thicker diameter should slow the fall of the same weighted bait more than 50 or 65. To be honest, I only flip with braid when punching heavy heavy matts. I like flurocarbon. Sunline shooter in 25 to be exact.
