Best warm and waterproof gloves for fishing?
Best warm and waterproof gloves for fishing?
I’ve been on the hunt for a good warm pair of gloves for those cold late winter and early spring days on the water. Looked at the STRIKER Glove/Mitt that is waterproof and has thumb and index finger exposed but the reviews aren’t the greatest. What gloves have you guys found that you like? Thanks

This is going to sound crazy, i know I did to me until I tried it. I use surgical gloves (Nitrile) underneath my wool fingerless gloves for fishing. When driving etc just a pair of ski gloves. The nitrile keeps the water from getting onto your skin and allows me to cast and feel the line with ease. The wool keeps the circulation through my hands nice and warm rain or shine.
Give it a try, you may be surprised as much as I was. PS thanks to KB for the suggestion.

I wear fingerless wool gloves over nitril gloves, and tuck a HotHands packet in the palm of the nitril glove. The nitril is waterproof, so the HotHands packet never gets wet, and the wool gloves stay warm even if they get wet.

Yup Mr. Poulson understands that the nitrile keeping the cold water and wind off your skin is a big part and those wooly buggers keep everything toasty warm. - I keep hot hands in my pockets when it gets too rough - just don't put that on your direct skin all daymark poulson wrote:I wear fingerless wool gloves over nitril gloves, and tuck a HotHands packet in the palm of the nitril glove. Framers' gloves (Thumb & 1st two fingertips exposed) with or without the nitrile underwear, depending on temps... (Thumb & 1st two fingertips exposed).

I have a pair of the Runcls....they have velcro tips on 1st two & thumb. Haven't fished 'm yet, as I need to acclimate 1st...so I can't speak to warmth or durability. Design seems ok, concernev that the folded over tips get in the way of my line. We'll see...

I tried the some nitrile gloves last winter, but my hands just got wet with sweat in them and felt just as cold or colder lol. Are you nitrile/wool wearing guys not having issues with moisture build up inside the glove?

I'm with you BigWorm...I wear fingertipless ( Is that even a word?? ) wool gloves that go up past your palm to your knuckle so I can feel my line and have a zippo rechargeable electric hand warmer going in my pocket for instant relief....OH YEAH BABY.... it takes away the sting from palming my reel...
. I take'm off when landing fish but wool with some Thinsulate is how I ride.
