I'm going to have the opportunity to fish a lake or two in Texas in late September. I was wondering (other than Falcon because of the border issues) what the three best lakes in Texas would be to hit in the early fall. I've never fished there, and don't know many people who have, so any help would be great. Thanks!

Choke Cayon Res is becoming one of the BEST lakes in all of Texas. And would be worth the trip if your going to be anywhere around Falcon or Amistad. I'm guessing it's about a 5-6 hour drive or so from though's other lakes.

Thank you for the replies. Choke Canyon looks like fun, but it's a little too far off the beaten path for us, I think. Maybe another time. O.H. Ivie though looks like a good possibility. If we end up hittin' it, I'll let you know how it goes Mr. Gambler. Thanks!

Throw in Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend. Best part is that they are only about a half hour apart so you can hit the hot one... Dan

I vote Choke Canyon and Sam Rayburn. Lake Fork can be good too, but I like the other two lakes better.
Re: Best Texas lakes?
I would reccomend O.H. Ivie and Amistead, about 4 hours from each other. 11 Share Lunkers Caught at O.H. Ivie this year and the next top lake for Bass over 13 # was Lake Fork with 4 Share Lunkers.
