Best spinning reals

With so many choices to choose from in spinning reals... I was hoping for a little guidance as to what some of you think are the best spinning reals for the money

I use nothing but shimano for my baitcasters. with that said I would have to say the the daiwa ss1300 spinning reels are my personal favorite and they are all I use.

They are pricey but to me they are the best.

If you're on a budget like I am, the Shimano Sedona has worked for me without any problems. I have 6 of them and besides getting them serviced every other year ($20) they have not failed me yet.

I don't use em much these days but I've got several spirex' (if ya like a trigger and no anti-reverse) and a symmetre (my recomendation),, they were in the $55-70 range the last time I looked. they work great and I've never had any problems. I've also got a stradic but I've been just as happy w the symmetre for less $

I have a bunch of shimano spinning reels and they are all great. I have a stella that is a mistake. Dont get me wrong its the best spinning reel i have ever bought. But when you can buy there 29 dollar side stab and not be able to tell much difference, it will make you sick. All of shimano spinning reels that have there instant anti reverse are very comparable, I say go with the cheap ones. And as jigs said, Mitchels have been around forever and you cant go wrong with them either. I still have a box full of the made in france ones, and they work good to.

The Steez is, by far the nicest, smoothest, lightest set-up I have ever seen. I have the spinning rod and reel and its great. Unfortunately I HATE spinning tackle and have only used the rod once. Make me an offer!

Shimano Sustain 1000 fd, awesome little reel for d-shot/splitshot, small in size but built solid smooth drag.

Daiwa Certate 2000 very smooth retrieve, functions just as good as a stella

Just purchased a Shimano Saros 2500F..I can't yet say it is anything except smooth operating..I looked at the new Stradics and this one felt smoother..At least to me..I do know it was a tad easier on the wallet..

I have 2 Okuma iT 40s they cost 27.95 , I have been using 2 of them for over a year in tournaments with no problem. They have 5 bearings & are very smooth I back reel everything so don't worry about a drag Hey for around 30.00 bucks if anything goes wrong with them i will chuck it and get a new one I have won a few bucks using them also mike matthews

On my way to a night tourney on Lake Sonoma, I stopped at Outdoor Pro Shop in Rohnert Park and bought a Quantum Kinetic PTiA. Later that night, while working the dam, I caught a 2-3 lb'er with it. After putting it in the livewell, I looked around for my rod, and it was GONE!! It fell overboard, my brand-new reel and my favorite Bionic Blade rod!! Talked it over with my partner, we decided to make a couple more passes along the dam and then come back after daylight and look for it. On the second pass down the dam, he said, "I think I found your rod". He had snagged my line. We pulled it in, it was my rod and reel. I shook the water out of it and went back to fishing. Caught several more fish that night and managed to keep the rod and reel in the boat. Bottom line is, that is now my favorite reel, and after that night I think I'm destined to have it for a long time. Price? about $90 bucks. If you can't get to either Outdoor Pro Shop (Rohnert Pk or Oakland), Bass Pro Shops has them for $89.95, plus you get a $25 gift check (kinda like a mfr's rebate).

Okuma is another reel to consider. Seven or eight years ago I bought an Epix OR (or "Epixor", you might see it both ways) as a "boat show special". Very smooth, 9 bearings, about $80 bucks and now pretty much readily available. (Check Cabela's) As a side note, before Okuma started marketing their own reels, they used to make them for Daiwa, among others.

The Quantum spinning reels are practically indestructible. Titanium bail, magnetic bail release (no spring to break), great drags. Good pricing, too.

I tryed out the Quantum Catalyst PTi and its super smooth. I had recently switched to Okuma and still like them however I've been bidding on the $109 value Quantums on ebay and getting them new between $46 and $66.

No matter the price, all shimanos are great, but to me they are the most comfortable when matched with a rod!
Okumas are great, good price and the newer models have awesome drag systems, so if you got someone who needs a ribbit combo and can not use a baitcaster the salinas is the one!
Diawa have a Excellor, i am sure my spelling is wrong, actually i know it is, but it goes for 60 clams, that reel is a deal!

I have to go with Greg and say Quantums for the money are the best...I own all three lines Kinetic,Catalyst,and the Energy and there is not much difference between the low end to the high end except weight and a ball bearing count. I am really impressed with these reels.

Hands down for the mid range money reel...the Shimano Stradics are the best. Right now you can even get the FH models that were the best as far as im concerned at a discount price at most shops because the newer version just came out

I purchased three Pflueger President's after the first one I bought.They are very nice reel's smooth as heck and can handle a good load.I fish spinning gear probably 50% of the time and these are really nice.

I've had them a couple year's so cant really comment much on there longevity but heck aint Pflueger been around since the late 1800's

I have a buddy who's going to let me try his. Looking forward to it. Its all he'll use.

Can't go wrong with Shimano or Daiwa. I sell a lot of both as a salesman. I personally like my Daiwas for spinning reels though. The Exceler is the best priced and valued reel I fish with. But my dad's old 1300 SS is awesome. Just won't stop going that thing. Nice thing, it broke a bail spring, and the bail snapped this year. Sent it in, only for $20 new bail, spring, and drag setup.Shimano is great too. Have a Shimano Sedona 1000 that has to be at least 7 or 8 yrs., occasional service, runs like a champ. Daiwas are just my personal choice. They are a bit lighter. Nothing too important, I just like to be able to match a reel to the rods I build, and the lower Daiwas are just lighter in most cases than similiarly priced Shimanos. Quantums are good too. They just weight a ton when you put them in size perspective. But that means that take a lot of abuse and last forever too... depends on what you look for in a reel.
