Best shimano c-rig rod

Post by gofish42189 »

What is the best shimano rod for carolina rigging? I'm considering buying one of the crucial flippinn sticks for throwing c-rigs. I like a long rod(7'6" or longer) so that doesn't leave many options. I've used the 7'11" heavy swimbait rod and found the tip to be just a tad too heavy. Any opinions?

I have a crcx flipping, I'd think that it is way too stiff for c-rig. the big crankbait CRC-C72MH is by far my favorite Crucial, I use it for frogs, c-rig, drop shot, big cranks, spooks, and rat-l-traps. lots of muscle down towards the handle to really put the wood to a fish when you need to, and a pretty sensitive tip that at the same time isn't wimpy. I've often thought about getting a few more of the crc-c's to add to the arsenal. would like to try the 7'11' medium to see how it stacks up as well.

Cumara CUC711MH or CUCX711MH. Both rock.

I don't get why people use a medium action rod for c-rigs. when I c-rig its for bigger fish. the stouter rid with heavier line gets the job done. I have NO problems fishing a 7'6" heavy flipping rod..the lighter rods I use the less the hook penetrates the bait and the fish.

I personally think that a rod thats got pure backbone is best!

kind of depends on hook size too, thicker wire hooks require more HP in the tip to get penetration.

I've always drug my c-rigs around so I like the fish to be able to grab the bait and pull abit, a medium or so tip will bend just enough to seat the tip of the hook into the fish's mouth so that you can reel down and drive the point in on the set.

I've always felt that heavier tips don't allow the fish to start the process of hooking themselves as well as a medium tip.

I should also note that I like a heavier/faster tip pretty much everywhere else. but that CRCX is like a broomstick at times, just a tad too stiff for me for a c-rig - at least the 7'6" is, ymmv on the 7'11"
