Best overall Delta crankbait?

Post by Joe »

What is best producing crankbait used in the Delta? Is the speed trap still producing like it used to? Any opinions?

For my money, it is hard to beat the good ol Rat-L-Trap. While I use Senkos as my confidence bait, I still pick up the Rat-L-Trap when I want a crankbait.

I dont do a whole lot of cranking but I have found my self doing more and more of it lately. The 3 that I like the most are as follows.

3/4oz Rat-L-Trap In a shad color and Mad Craw Color
LV-500 In Ghost Minnow and Mad Craw and Spring Craw
and A Strike King 6 and 4 series in Red Crawfish

All are awsome crank baits but I have mainly been fishing the Rat-L-Trap more then anyothers. I hope this helps!

My favorite is the Rat L Trap in shad colors (Color codes 53 [Diamond Dust] or 835 [Silverado]. Depending upon the area I'm fishing, I will switch between a 1/2 oz or 3/4 oz. Besides largemouth bass, I've caught stripers (largest 27 lbs) and salmon (largest 27 lbs) on these colors.

1/4 Oz Speed Trap in Delta Craw. It is one of my favorites. Or any of the LV500 baits. :D
