It appears as tho my prop shaft on my minnkota is bent. Anyone had experience with this happening? Is it easy to swap out? Thanks

Dude,
Since you're in Walnut Creek, do yourselves a big favor and drop Jim Lambert an email (minnkotaman@sbcglobal.net). You'd be surprise on the service and how affordable it is. Jim is very close to ya!

Re: Bent minnkota prop shaft?
I had an problem with my trolling motor and brought it to Jim. Had me in and out in less than 30 minutes. I personally would not try to take it apart because of the small parts and getting the brushes set back in place can be hard. Its gonna be cheaper to have him do it once than doing it yourself 3 or 4 times.

Re: Bent minnkota prop shaft?
Ive rebuilt my minnkota a half a dozen times, they are real easy to work on you can get all the parts directly from minnkota..the trick on getting past the brushes is to put the retaining ring on the brushes and slowly insert the shaft ..if you are not mechanically inclined have someone else do it..
I have straightened a bent shaft buy taking the prop off grab a magic marker turn your motor on slow bring the marker to the shaft very lightly so it marks the direction of bend bend it back the opposite direction wipe off marker reapply and bend until it balanced i did this to my new motor after I bent the shaft and its been running 3 years now with no vibration or noise
