Got some time off finally and thinking about travelling from Vegas to Yuma for maybe a week's time of fishing. Fished Mittry, Squaw, Fergusin, Martinez all years and ages ago.
Any suggestions where to go?
I like fishing jigs and can use pork. Water at Mead was 62 yesterday. Same at Yuma?
Thanks, Tom

Welcome to the boards reellittlephish
Yuma - Fisher's Landing is one of my favorite places to fish -- cuz it's jungle fishing! A real power fishermans dream, big baits and gorilla line.
If you are going this time of year then try most of the backwaters up and down the river such at Ferguson, Fishers, Squaw, etc. Jigs in brown with purple trailer work well. Firetiger cranks along tulle breaks will also get you fish.
Not sure on what the H2o temp is right now. As a guess, maybe 56 degrees main river, a bit higher in the lakes. Do some searching and you find more accurate info.
Let us know how you do.

Thanks Brian,
Watching the weather now, it's blowing south of here on Mojave which cancelled the big striper foray this morning. Probably Yuma next week. Brown Jigs with purple Yamamoto craws for starters.

I doubt I'll be anywhere near Chandler. Mostly fish Lake Mead and Mojave, with occasional foray to Havasu. But I really have fond memories of the river near Yuma and Blythe. Like the close quarters encounters with bass in "heavy cover". Mead and Mojave are mostly fishing over rock structure with weedbeds - water is so low.
stay in touch for the spring; probably I'll be working a 6 day/week schedule, but you never know in construction...

Allentek-when you get to Chandler look me up I'll show you the ropes down here.Fishing has been pretty decent in most places. Purples and browns are key. Hows about some DVL help? I would like to go on the 23-24 of December

Re: Welcome to the boards reellittlephish
I just fished those beautiful areas a couple of weeks ago. Best part, it was mid-week and we saw only about three other boats all day, from Martinez to Squaw.
Caught some nice bass on topwater too, early a.m. and p.m. on that Ribbit frog (thanks Brian D. for turning me on to those at Barrett last March) bait by the tullies around the inside lakes, especially by the entrance to the lakes, my favorites spots. Can't beat topwater action when you can get it, even though everyone told me I could forget it up there, right! I'll always try.
The hot water area back in Little Squaw really is hot, no pun intended, with watermelon senkos, four inch. Soft crankbaits worked fairly well all over Martinez, for smaller largemouth and stripers. The water is really clear too, which is not the case most of the time I go over there. It was nice to see what's down there.
Have fun.
PS Color me blessed, I'm going to Clear Lake for Christmas...YA HOOOOO!
