Daiwa is one of the undisputed leaders in fishing gear. Whether it is rods or reels designed for any budget to clothing, lures, line, and storage solutions: Daiwa's got it. Each year they continue to push the envelope with technologically advanced products that perform better and better every year. They have something for everyone, from budget-minded anglers to those looking for the best that money can buy and the new products they unveiled at ICAST 2022 hit all of those marks.
Updated Tatula XT Rods
New for this year is the revamped Tatula XT rods. They are exceptionally well-built, very light and full of rod building technology and excellent rod components. The biggest news about them is they retail for under $100 and have the look, feel, and performance of much more expensive rods.
They will be available soon and are offered in 15 models, nine casting and six spinning. The rod models are varied, cover many techniques, and include two glass crankbait models. They are stylish with JDM-inspired EVA foam grips and Fuji aluminum oxide guides. The Tatula XT rods also have Daiwa's Braiding-X technology for long casts and durability.
Revamped Procyon and Exist Spinning Reels
Both the Procyon and Exist are popular spinning reels that carry Daiwa's legacy of excellent reels. Each of them got a facelift with new versions this year.
The Exist is a flagship reel that is the best they make. It's an incredible reel with every feature and technology that Daiwa is capable of, including the Air Drive System that makes it incredibly light. It has a magnesium frame, MAGSEALED body for durability, and many more features. It can make a claim as the most technologically advanced reel on the market and retails for $859.99-$929.99, depending on the size.
The new Procyon MQ LT is also an incredible reel, with five sizes offered from 1000 to 5000. It also has the Air Drive System and LT frame to make it extremely lightweight while also durable because of the one-piece Monocoque Zaion V body. It retails for $179.99.
New Sizes for the Tatula Baitcast Reels and Tatula Combos
All the existing Daiwa Tatula baitcast reels have been well received and feature the T-Wing system for great casting. As the years have progressed, Daiwa continues to offer new sizes of reels in the Tatula family.
One is the Tatula 70 SV, a small framed reel that is great for those with smaller hands or younger anglers, but they are also perfect for those who like to palm their reel for certain techniques. This reel has the SV spool for great casting and is available in a 6.3:1, 7.1:1, and 8.1:1 retrieve and retails for $229.99.
The other new size is the Tatula 80, a reel built to be palmed for fishing jerkbaits, pitching, and other techniques where that can be a benefit. It has a 90mm swept handle and a hyperdrive design and retails for $199.99.
New combos are available, including a Tatula 100 CT reel and a 7-foot or 7-foot, 3-inch graphite rod. Each is available in a left or right-handed reel and the retail cost for the combo is $229.99.
Daiwa Yamamoto Neko Crawler
The collaboration between Daiwa and Yamamoto has been responsible for some great new soft plastic baits in the past few years, and there's another one coming: the Neko Crawler. Like it sounds, it's designed as a Neko bait with a straight design and an excellent natural-looking profile.
It's a 5-inch bait with a slender profile and slightly bulbous tail to give it great action when fished on a Neko Rig or a drop-shot. It comes in ten colors and retails for $8.99 per pack.
Wharf Rat Hoodie
The simple idea of this hoodie is what makes it so interesting. It's a standard hoodie with short sleeves. It was built with deckhands in mind, who need to use their arms for many things that get them wet. Having a hooded sweatshirt without sleeves keeps arms from getting wet, whether you are reaching in your livewells to cull or fishing on the ocean and reaching deep in baitwells to get the best baitfish to hook next.
It has a full hood, Daiwa logo on the front, and a front pouch to keep your hands warm. It's offered in gray and black and the cost is $59.99.
Daiwa continuously innovates with products for all species and price points. This year, the theme was building on impressive product lines with different size options and new versions of established rods and reels. In addition to these bass products, countless other items were designed with saltwater anglers in mind, yet another reason why Daiwa is a leader in fishing for everything that swims.
