MISSOULA, Mont. – Over the last 16 months, the southern United States has experienced several unusually destructive hurricanes that are responsible for record rainfalls, catastrophic flooding, and major economic hardship across the region. To help connect the dots between these hurricanes and climate change, Conservation Hawks and the Outdoor Writers Association of America invite you to participate in a press call with prominent meteorologist and respected hurricane expert Dr. Kerry Emanuel.
Dr. Emanuel is a professor of atmospheric science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as the co-founder of MIT’s influential Lorenz Center. He is the author or co-author of over 200 peer-reviewed scientific papers, along with three books, including Divine Wind: The History and Science of Hurricanes. He is also recognized as one of the world’s foremost experts on hurricanes and climate change. Dr. Emanuel will talk about the connection between hurricanes and our changing climate, then take questions from the press.
