As Billy McDonald travels the country in his rig while fishing the FLW Tour, he carries just about every Lucas Oil product made.

We recently spent a day on the water with him to and got to see first hand which products he keeps close by to clean and protect his equipment. He uses them all, but these are his top five picks.

“The great thing is that it takes just a minute to apply and the needle applicator makes it easy to add a drop here and there to get better performance,” he says. “I add it to my gears, bearings and level wind. It has a double Lucas additive and it lasts for a long time.”

Slick Mist Tire and Trim Shine
McDonald keeps one of the cleanest rigs you will see on the FLW Tour, and a big part of that is his attention to detail and the help from Lucas Oil’s line of appearance products.
He is a big fan of the Slick Mist Tire and Trim Shine because of how easy it is to use and how well it performs.
“It is a water based product and is fantastic for tires as well as trailers that have the Road Armor (tough coat) material. All I do is shake it up and spray it on and then wipe it off,” says McDonald. “It gives you that great new look. It stays on and lasts.”
Lucas Safeguard Ethanol Fuel Conditioner with Stabilizers
By now we have probably all heard of the dangers of ethanol when running it through outboard engines. It appears that ethanol is here to stay and there is even a chance that the percentage used will increase in the coming years. While it is harmful to outboard engines and fuel lines, there are products out there that can combat the damage caused.
Lucas Oil’s Safeguard™ Ethanol Fuel Conditioner with Stabilizers is what McDonald uses every time he fills up.
“If you look at the gas pumps, it says 10% ethanol and to put that into perspective I have a 52-gallon gas tank in my Ranger. That means I am putting 5.2 gallons of it into my tank every fill-up. That is a full five-gallon bucket every single time,” he points out.
“By adding the Lucas product, I can protect my outboard that was never designed to run with it anyways. Each bottle treats 25-gallons, so I use two every time I go to the gas station.”

Lucas Fuel Treatment
This product is an upper cylinder lubricant and cleans injectors and also conditions your fuel. McDonald said it is merely a tune-up in a bottle.
“It works for both gas and diesel automobiles and is also great for your boat gas,” he begins. “It cleans the fuel system and injectors and makes sure everything runs more efficiently.”
Basically, anything that runs on gasoline or diesel can benefit from this product, and it will help to clean the entire fuel system to get peak performance.
Lucas Oil Slick Mist Marine Speed Wax
This product is part of Lucas’ appearance products and was designed specifically for marine use. It shares the same ease of use and performance of the original but works great for the problems that occur with a life on the water.
“I really like to spray it on my boat wrap after fishing because it removes those hard water spots. It is like the same Slick Mist we have always used, but this one does an even better job for the marine environment,” adds McDonald.
While the name says marine, McDonald still uses it on his truck.
“I really like it on the front of my truck. I’ll give it a few coats on the hood and grill, and it really helps with all the bugs in the summertime,” he shares. “Just spray it on and wipe it off.”
