Certainly this debate did not go where the Obama camp and people like Fishahalic were hoping. They thought she would stumble and be an embrassment to the McCain camp. It didn't
happen. She came through like a champ and probably added some points to poll numbers for McCain in days to come. Conversely, Biden made a few statements (six for sure) that were dead wrong and they are being itemized by many of the news commentators, and as one said "these were not statements in error, but outright lies on Biden's part and it will come back to haunt him during the next few days". Surprisingly, I thought the moderator did a pretty balanced job, in spite of her being an Obama supporter. Maybe, just maybe, the leftist liberals who have been on a campaign to discredit Palin have learned a few hard lessons during the past five weeks.

I will say she did better than I thought but she still lost the debate (if you want to call it that). I'm sure they knew the questions before they were asked and Palin read her asnwer from a sheet it was very apparent.
From the polls I saw Bidens credibility went up a lot and Palins a little and since Biden had a lot more credibility then Palin in the first place the clear winner is.......................................BIDEN.

Harvey,
You can't get all your news and views from Fox news.
I was surprised with how good Palin did. But you are still fighting a losing battle.

I watch several news outlets, But after all that liberal slant its nice to watch FOX, while I read my NRA mag. and think about having a VP that talks funny as I do.
As I drive across this great country, I find more and more real people that think like me. Too bad we cannot break off the 2 coasts and let them form the more perfect country, that they want.

At least I am fighting the battle. It is inconcevieble to me that anyone who pursues the fishing sports, especially bass fishing, can be so naive as to support the likes of Obama and his clan. If Obama were elected with a left-wing majority in Congress, your bass fishing and hunting pursuits would likely be eliminated. Motor boats would be outlawed from such waters as Tahoe, Berryessa, the practice of paying out tournament purses for catching bass would likely end, hunters would not only be denied access to elk country, but would lose thier right to own any sporting arms at all. You think this would never happen? If so, you have no expertise whatsover in the history of Sierra Club PACs , NRDC , Friends of Earth, etc, goals. These groups have long pushed for such restrictions and make political endorsements based upon their goals. Certainly they endorse Obama and other extreme left candidates who provide a ray of light for achieving goals that they have not achieved due to a lot of
hard work by sportsman's groups across the country. They will not give up these anti-outdoors efforts.....but then neither will we give up our battle to thwart them . . So you who keep pushing for the Obama types - rave on - as if nothing else it provides insight into your lack or expertise and concern regarding the threat to the future of our hunting and fishing sports.

bss_hunter you make my point. My observations (claims) have been a matter of record for many, many years. Apparantly you have (1) your head in the sand, or (3) you haven't been around the bass fishing sports or shooting sports for very long, or (3) you have little concern about the outdoor sports that I have been deeply involved in for over 35 years in both the participation of such sports and involvment in activities to protect them . Again,
your post reeks of naitevity and lack of concern.

Okay McKnowitall; where am I wrong? About the Sierra Club? The shooting sports???? You are the one that is wrong - but it is okay, you probably have never had to deal with those that would destroy the hunting and fishing sports as I have. You can deny and disclaim all you want, but a minimum of research (if that is within your abilities) will show the errors in which you speak.

No squawk-show me the connection from these groups to Obama.
I know you can't, but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. Show us all how these groups are connected to Obama. Show us their major donations to his campaign, show us how many of their supporters sit on Obamas campaign, show us that he is a full fledged card carrying member of ANY of these groups, show us some past asscociations with them.

McKenzie; you are a typical liberal in your responses. First, I never said (read the posts again) that any member of the Sierra Club or NRDC are serving on his committee.
What I said is that the liberal left will spell doom for many of the outdoors sports that we have fought to keep over the years. It is these people that support Barack Hussein Obama with their endorsements. You fail to respond to my allegations regarding the Sierra Club and their petitions to remove Glen Canyon Dam from the Colorado River, to deny motor boat access to many lakes across the country including Lake Berryessa and Lake Tahoe. These petitions are a matter of record and go back to the late l980s. Presently the Sierra Club along with other liberal groups are attempting to close elk hunting ranges in Montana, and demading that the Montana Fish and Game remove the lake trout from Flathead Lake. They have also petitioned to have the brown trout removed from Flaming Gorge.
Barack Hussein Obama is most responsive to such ideology as indicated by his stand on the gun ownership issues. In opposing the liberal threat to the outdoor sports, certainly one has to
oppose the most liberal Senator of all time (well , he and Barney Frank might be in a dead heat) in his quest for the White House.
It is likely that you haven't had the time to research these things, as most do not. But I have for many years and the day that Barbara Boxer has a pal in the Oval office - we are in trouble as far as the outdoor sports go.
Do your home work and then come back .

Dan I thought a while back you said you're a life member of the NRA. Do you read any of their stuff? If not , if you think as fishaheller does. Why belong? Obama never met a gun he would'nt like to ban, and from what I have read in other mags, may not be two friendly with any other outdoor sports.

Hey Harvey,
I was told all outdoor wilderness sports would end under the Clinton administration. I fished tournaments then too. You can spread all the propoganda that you want. But fishing will be here forever. You don't give the fishing lobby much credit. How many billions of dollars a year are pumped into the economy by fishermen and hunters? Yeah, I'm sure it will all end.

Marty wrote:Dave, I though you said you like Reagan and you were an NRA member – did I get that wrong?
Yes and no. I did like Reagan, I thought he was one of our best presidents. Like I said before, not so much about his policies but just how he came in when the country was down (from the Carter years) and he lifted it back up. With his optimism and great speeches, he made you feel good again.
I also think he won the cold war without firing a shot. SDI and our arms build up forced the Soviets to spend money like it was going out of style (similar to this republican administration) and eventually led to there downfall (like another republican administration may do with us).
Now the NRA is another thing. I can't believe anyone who claims to be a patriotic american can say they are in the NRA. When they called federal officers "jack booted thugs" I lost any respect for the whole group. I don't remember the situation that led to them calling federal officers "jack booted thugs" but I do know it was uncalled for.

Why belong? Well thats pretty simple, on the fundamental level I believe strongly in the 2nd Amendment, and the addage you don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

It doesn't matter who gets in office, PETA and others will operate the same as usual and with little or no resistance from the general public, that's the same as agreeing with them and their twisted causes. Why don't you organize a counter demonstration to one of theirs.
Why you won't, because your like the rest of so called "conservatives" don't want to be bothered with it.
I have gone to so many meetings on the Delta its not even funny, there are only two people on NCBF that I know and have seen attend, niether more than a few times.

I agree with you on that but there is a difference. I don't come on here pushing ACLU thoughts or any organizations thoughts. But some come on here and other forums that I participate in and push an NRA website that is all lies.
Believe it or not, I don't and I am sure most dems don't belong to these liberal organizations or for the most part believe in there cause. On the other hand, I have seen many a republican push an NRA agenda and we all know the NRA is a right wing extremist group.

I assume this was directed towards me. FYI, I have attended more Calif. DFG Commission hearings, created and directed more fundraisers for the protection of gun ownership than you will ever do. I have served on a PAC set up to protect the fishing sports, worked with the firearms and fishing tackle industry for many, many years in developing support for such programs put in place by Gun Owners of California and United Anglers . Of course this was likely before you were old enough to need a fishing or hunting license.

I posted my thoughts about the NRA and you posted your thoughts about ACLU and other liberal orgs. I think. The difference is I never tried to get you to check out a ACLU or other liberal orgs web site. You on the other hand promote the NRA and have on several threads.
I'll repeat, the NRA is a right wing extremist group that said federal agents were "jack booted thugs", and how anyone could support this organization and claim to be patriotic (to the United States anyway) is beyond me.
Since I have not pushed any left wing organizations since I belong to none and you have pushed a extreme right wing organization then I believe there is a big differnce.
Also I challenge you to post from something Obama said in his 2008 presidential bid that he is going to ban guns, I don't think you can because I don't believe he has ever said it.

OK, I'm trying to learn how this works.
I read NRA mags. But because I belong, I'm pushing the NRA.
So if I change that to a google search and find 1,000s of ref.s to the the NRA that would be OK.[ I did that on JACK BOOTED THUGS, came up with over 4,000 hits some Liberal, some Right wing.] very good reading, a lot on Waco & Weaver. And even some on a unarmed Mother being KILLED by a fed. agent while holding her baby. of course he wasnt a jack booted thug. He just screwed up and killed an unarmed mother.
As a right wing person if I post something without saying where I got it, I'm making it up,
But if I post a source,I'm pushing an Org. or using right wing properganda.
I also used google to search for Obama campain personel got some great reading there also. You have taught me a lot.
After reading my NRA mag. I can google search things from the mag. and confirm what I read
I love reading about our elections being tampered with by people outside the USA.
You are being clever, The last time the Dem.s jumped on Gun Control, they got their head handed to them .
Lost control of congress did'nt they?
So this time they are laying low.
But again google comes to the rescue, google Obama and guns or gun control. [ I would do it for you but then I would be cherry picking] your a big boy you can do it.
Now you tell me[ be honest now, it all comes out in the wash]
Obama is very anti-gun. [ go ahead its alright for you to say it]
The Right has painted Obama as Left Wing
No, Obamas voting record , and Obama himself has has shown him to one of the most liberal senators we have.
Now , I will give you something to jump on.
Who picked Obama to give the speech[ you know the one] Last Dem. convention, the one that moved him up to rising star status.
I hope that you know. There are people with lots of money, They pick young guns and promote them in the hopes of getting a return on their investment. Whos behind Obama. He has'nt done enought on his own the rise thru the ranks. Hes just another paid for politican.
P.S. I did'nt put in about my father and brother to make me more than you.
I want you to know more about my family,[where I'm coming from]I do belive that war is part of life.
There will always be a bully on the playground and while some step away. Me and mine step forward.
America will become like the rest of the world sooner than later

Geez, I don't know how to be any more clear about this, I don't understand what your missing here. Big difference I am posting facts, McSame admitted he voted with Bush 90% of the time. You going to a NRA web site and have them say what Obama is going to do with gun control is totally different. They said the same about Clinton and I don't remember any guns being taken away, so they were blowing smoke then and you are blowing smoke now.
The republicans have a funny way of lying, using partial quotes and partial truths to prove there point. "The truth shall set you free" but actually I should say "The truth shall set us free" .....us like in the United States. The truth is Obama is a better choice for president then McSame is now or Bush was then.
