Ok. So I read some older/archive stuff and I finally took some suggestions and went with them, none worked. Since we had no strap wrench, we used a pipe wrench, held the release buttom and twisted and pulled, nada. We then wrapped the pole in a strap and hooked it to a jack to try and yank that mother out. Nothing! :( Any other suggestions? I'd like to avoid cutting carpet for fear having to replace it all, should it fray or rip. Any other ideas? :?: :!: :?:

Try the BBC boards (bassboat central). Lots of factory/dealer support on that site. Someone on the Ranger boards probably has dealt with your problem before.

Have you tried calling Ranger Boats yet?

Try putting some ice around the base. The plastic nylon insert is swollen and this may help it shrink. Careful using that jack as you can start the delaminatin process early!

Also, try the twist/pull at the same time method. Other than that, you may need to remove the base plate or just leave the pole there.

Good luck!

I've had that happen on a couple of boats. Just spray WD40 in it and rock it back and forth to get it in as far as possible. You might have to let it sit over nighht before it will loosen. Then take the pipe wrench and start to work it. It should start to turn. Keep spraying the WD40 around the base. Once you get it to turn, Thats when you will need help. As you turn it with the wrench, Have your buddie pull up on the seat. You will have to work the wrench and push in the button at the same time. When you get it out make sure to put some grese in the shaft before you put it back in.

Same here WD 40 worked for me I had to spray mine almost a dozen times and get it worked down in there.

my friend had the same problem on his champion and used penetrating oil to loosen things up. it loosened up his carpet around the pole, as well as the pole. He glued the carpet back down and all is now well.

Rob I talked with Mike Crisenbery ( service manager ) at Ranger Boats ( 870-453-2222 ). He said NOT to use wd-40 or any oil based products because they will lift your carpet. He recommended using dish soap and the strap or pipe wrench. tim
