What I use is my wife’s carpet clearer “Bissell Little Green”. It is a small one that heats the water as it spray on the carpet. It also sucks up the water. I mix the water with about 20% vinegar and for the bad spots I use “Simple Green”. Be careful because “Simple Green” concentrated and has a high PH. I just spray the spot I want to clean and then right to the carpet cleaner. After I'm done I go back with a brush with stiff bristles to keep the carpet mat from mating.

Woolite carpet cleaner. I have used it for 20 + years and I have never found a stain it couldn't get out. Tough stains may take 2 tries. For general cleaning spray a large area then work it in with a soft brush. Let it dry and vacuum it up.

I usually take mine to the car wash , first I pre spray it with walmart cheap carpet cleaner on the dirty and soiled spots , then I use the car wash soap, then I use the rinse , then I use downey fabric softner while it is still wet and it makes your carpet extra soft , you can let it air dry or take it over to the vaccum and vaccum it dry your preference it usually cost me about 10.00 12.00 total including the cleaner

One of the best carpet cleaners I know of Is a dry chem product called "Host" as it does not push water down into the fibers - sweep it in, vacuum it up real simple not invasive to carpet, doesnt squish the fibers or get water under the mat - I use this at my Facility and it is AWESOME

I prefer spray on cleaners or things like woolite. I used to use a powersprayer at the car wash, but thats went horrible wrong when the adhesive failed on my carpet.
Best for me has been:
1. pick up the hooks and stuff
2. vaccume
3. spray car carpet cleaner
4. small circles with a rag( suggested you test a small bit of carpet to prove color fastness)
5. let dry
6. vaccume

I use 'Folex Instant Carpet Spot Remover'. It is available at Orchard Supply and I think Home Depot. This stuff is great.

Folex is a spray on ans wipe off with a clean white cloth. I use it to remove carpet spots in new homes.

Dawn dish soap works best. A little tide fabreeze sport makes it smell great. And a little ammonia to kill any mold.
