Re: How do boat taxes work in CA?
Thanks guys for the responses. It sounds like, and I hope, it is on the low side of the assessment. North Carolina also has a property tax on boats. Less than 1% for sure, but they assessed it way high. I can breathe a small sigh of relief that if we did choose to come here then I won't be taxed up ...

How do boat taxes work in CA?
Hello friends. 2 years ago I moved from San Jose to Greenville NC. It was a big shift culturally and monetarily. Things are a LOT cheaper here. In a year, my girlfriend will finish her program and we are debating whether to move to Raleigh NC or Sacramento CA. Truth be told, if it was an even compet...

@th365 Awesome post on Clear Lake! Thanks for sharing the info as a newcomer to the lake. Bet you will miss the California fishing! Thank you! I most certainly will, but I'm moving back to North Carolina and they have some decent fishing for sure. I left North Carolina with a handful of rods, a kay...

Posting this in the "Fishing Reports" section as well. I finally fished Clearlake this Saturday. I'm moving out of California and I needed to make this trip and fish it once. Some friendly members here gave me some advice. I thought it might be interesting to post what I did and how I went...

I usually fish the southern end of the lake by Rattlesnake Island, since we have a place in the oaks. Here are some places I know, but you will need a boat since it is a distance from the State Park. 1. Windflower Point 2. Rattlesnake Island 3. Around Weekend Island & Fruit Island. 4. There is ...
Clearlake
Hey guys, I'll be fishing Clearlake for the first time this weekend. Any general tips or locations? I'm not looking for any detailed secrets, just a general direction would be very welcome. I'll be launching out of Clear Lake State Park on the west side.

While Nitros nowadays seem like well built boats, earlier Nitros had a bit of a reputation. I would look for a used 300/400 series Ranger or an older Skeeter or Champion. Those 300 Rangers you can get for a decent price and they're well built boats assuming the owner wasn't a complete asshat.

How much would it cost to mount a jack plate? I can do all the wiring myself, I just need someone to take the motor off and install the plate and put the motor back on.

Look up Khanh's customs. He does it out of his house. Looks janky, but I've been a repeat customer, very straightforward and good prices. Turnaround time can be a little slow so definitely ask him about that.

Deciding where to launch at Berryessa
Going to Berryessa this Sunday. Unfortunately Capell Cove seems to be closed so I'm trying to decide between Markley Cove and Putah Creek. Markley Cove is closer and cleaner but I'm wondering how crowded it gets. Putah Creek is a slightly farther drive. I've only launched at Capell before so I'm unf...

I did very well on the delta this weekend. On Saturday, some friends and I fished Sugar Barge/Frank's. I searched isolated tullies near deeper channels and caught 4 fish between 2-3 lbs. Lol, you haven’t fished the Delta yet... Haha there's some truth to your statement. I don't favor the Delta because during spring I feel like I'm competing against other fishermen instead of just fishing and trying to catch fish. If I want to "fun fish" I want to be able to not worr...

Here's the thing I don't understand. Berryessa is a pretty sizable lake. It's a great fishing lake. How is there any need to crowd or cut off people fishing? You can't find ONE other spot? A lot of people recommend using the lightest weight you can with a dropshot but can someone explain why? I actually like using heavier weights. 3/8 ounce and even 1/2 ounce for really deep water. Better in the wind, sinks faster, feel the bottom better. Much better for fishing deeper water. Am I cra...
