Folsom
Folsom Lake State Recreation Area is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, about 25 miles east of Sacramento. With over four million visitors each year, this popular area features an 18,000 acre man-made lake that enables visitors to enjoy.
Fishing is perhaps the most popular activity of all and catches include trout, catfish, large and smallmouth bass, perch and kokanee. Bottom fishermen have even been known to catch sturgeon.
The lake features some 10,000 surface acres of water when full, 75 miles of shoreline, extends about 15 miles up the north fork, and about 10 1/2 miles up the south fork of the American River. Lake level normally varies from 466 feet elevation in early summer to a low of 426 feet in early winter.
Folsom Lake is one of the most popular lakes in the California State Park System. The water level of the lake however, dictates the type of recreation and length of the season.
The five locations marked on the map to the right all have concrete launch ramps. There is a $7 day-use fee and a $8 launch fee. Season passes that cover vehicle and launch are $200 and cover a one year period from the purchase date.
Granite Bay- Multi-lane ramp
Rattlesnake Bar- 2-lane ramp (Check to see if rampis open.)
Peninsula- 1-lane ramp
Brown's Ravine- A 4-lane and a 2-lane ramp
Folsom Point- 4-lane ramp

Report: To those who are new to Folsom Lake reports: any reports by "jim" should be ignored. Please do NOT think you can go out every time and get big bass "close to ten" as easily as he makes it sound. Jim is a pathelogical liar and is doing new Folsom fishermen a great disservice. He is a sad example of poor upbringing and a serious lack of self worth (hence the need to post so many false reports). So sad he never grew up. |

One tons in green pumpkin, dart heads in oxblood and arrons magic, hopkins 1/2 ox spoons with stinger replacement hooks. No threes or fours today, I guess the storm quitened them down a bit. |
Tips: Use a variety of lures and experiment with others that you don't have confidence in(it may just chsnge). |
