Tahkenitch
 Tahkenitch Lake is off Highway 101 north of Gardiner on the Oregon Coast. Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area has a boat launch and nearby campgrounds.
This is the only remaining large undeveloped lake on the Oregon Coast. The lake is 1500 acres in extent and borders 10,000 acres of undeveloped forest land. Fishing includes bass, trout, perch, and many more species. The lake lies at an elevation of 10 feet.

Report: First went to Loon Lake, Gate was locked, I knew that I just forgot that the ramp does not open untill Memorial day. Drove back down to Tahkenitch and launched at about 6:30 AM. Fished around the Island out from the ramp, nothing, fished all my favorite spots, Nothing! Now, let me tell you that I have fished this lake for about fourty years and I could not scare up a fish of any size for nothing. I spent about an hour just looking for beds and could not find even one! ?????????????????????
Finally about 2:00 PM My buddy says, "I got one"! About 3 minits later he hauls in a 6# 14oz pig on a Strike King Zero! only fish all day and quit at about 3:00 PM. |
Tips: Next to Tenmile Tahkenitch is my favorite lake to fish on the coast, I don't know what to say other than I quess I have lost my touch.????????????? That is if I ever had one! |

Report: Fished sat. and sun. with a slow bite. Caught fish on senkos and buzzbaits. I also managed to catch a fish on a swimbait on the tressles during the few minutes i fished on friday. My best 5 on sat was a little over 16lbs and sunday was a little over 12. mainly fished the edge of creek channels and pads on sat. and fished docks on sunday. Unfortunitly i was not able to get to the same spot on sunday as i fished on sat. but was told the bite wasn't really happening up there anyways. The buzzbait bites were few and far between but when a fish did come up on them i had to hold on because they were all big fish. |
Tips: BE PATIENT! I fished two spots on sat. and knew that there were good fish in those spots. I only caught 6 fish on saturday but they were all good quality. If you pick up a fish in a certain spot dont be afraid to leave it and hit it up again every hour, it works. oh almost forgot i was using 8lb test on the senkos. |

Report: Fished Tahkenitch on the 27th. from 5am-4pm in all caught 7, snapped one off, and missed one blow-up on grass frog. 1 Creature bait fish, 1 Crankbait fish, 2 on Spinnerbait, and three on Senco's. Biggest was 3.8. best five was approx. 12.7. No pattern. Fishing was kind of tough (I thought) so we went to Siltcoos on Sunday. |
