Green Peter Lake when full has a length of ten miles with nearly 4,000 acre feet of water.

Green Peter Lake and Foster Lake, are designed to provide flood control, irrigation, power generation, water-based recreation and improved navigation downstream. Foster Lake regulates, or evens, the flow from Green Peter dam. During winter months the lake is drawn down to hold back flood waters from the Middle Santiam River. When flooding danger is over, the lake is filled in early spring. Later in the summer the lake is drawn down to provide irrigation and a constant water flow in the Mid-Willamette Valley.

Green Peter is a concrete structure with a gated spillway. Fosterdam is a rockfill structure. The powerhouses at each dam contain two generators.

There are six parks along the two lakes, five of them operated by Linn County Parks Dept. Camping is available.

Green Peter Lake is located in west-central Oregon, about 45 miles northeast of Eugene, Oregon.

Directions: Go east on Hwy 20 from Sweet Home, past Foster Lake. Turn left on road to Quartzville Recreation Corridor

Report: I was planning on heading to green peter this weekend to try out my new bass boat. Just wondering if the fish are still biting and where? Tempeture is getting lower so just looking for a little advice by someone that has fished the lake in the fall. Thanx
