Coyote Reservoir is located approximately 40 miles northwest of San Jose at an elevation of 777 feet in the oak covered hillsides near Gilroy.

There is one campground located near the lake accommodating both tents and RV's (no reservations & no hookups).

All boating is allowed as well as water skiing and jet skis with a speed restriction of 35 mph; improved launching facilities are available.

There is a good swimming beach with lifeguards during the summer months.

The lake holds a good population of bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill, and trout seasonally.

Report: Opening day. 12 boats lined up to launch at 8:00am. Ranger requires boats have: air horn, fire extinguisher and float cushion. Fished senkos all day, not a bite. Got very windy in the afternoon.

Report: Caught 4 all at the NE end of the Lake. 2 dinks and a 2.5 and a 3.8. One on a spinner the rest on Tex Rigged Sweet Beaver.

Tips: Lake closes for the season 14 October.

Report: I headed over to the dam area after work around 5:30pm tons of fish jumping. Water is very low, I don't think I have ever seen it so low. Started with plastics and no takers. Threw in my LC minnow sp and had a taker but it got off =(. Few minutes landed another around 4-5-lbs. Nothing else all evening. I fished for about 2 hours.

Tips: They are hitting on the pauses
