2006 Winter NutCase Classic

Post by Gator »

OK Boys and Girls - IT'S ON!!!

Dec. 16, 2006 - Folsom Lake, Granite Bay Ramp

Estimated checkin times - 4:30 a.m to 5:45 a.m. - location TBD

First Session - Safe Light til 10:00.
First Weigh-in and partner pairings for second session - 10:00-10:30

Second Session - 10:30-1:30.
Second weigh-in, awards and Potluck - 1:30 til everybody leaves or they kick us out.

Cost will be $10 per person with all proceeds being donated to a worthy charitable cause. I have one in mind but until I get confirmation that it will be accepted I will not announce it.

There will be no money awarded for this event but there will be the coveted Nut plaques. TopNut, BigNut, OddNut and NumbNut will be awarded. Many thank to EGBass for doing this years trophies.

Remember to bring your PotLuck lunch item to share with all. I will start the festivities off saying that I will be bringing a big pot of chili along with (possibly) some awesome Lasagna. Please remember to bring your favorite beverage of choice.

I will have two 10x10 EZ-Ups that I will be bringing, so if you have one to bring and share it would be appreciated (especially if we have some of that wonderful December weather)

Please send me an email at webmaster@westernbass.com to let me know if you plan to attend. No need to do a formal signup, if you want to fish, show up!! I'd just like to get an idea of all who will be participating. As always, we NEED boaters. Even if you've never been on the pond before, come on up and help take some great people out.

I will update this post and thread as more information becomes available. Please mark the date on your calendars for a fun filled day on the water!!

NutCase Classic Tradition

Post by Wolfeman »

For the last couple of years, at about this time, I've posted a message whining about the fact that we have lost touch with the Tradition of the Winter NutCase Classic; how it all started on a cold and raining day in January on the Delta, and how that's when we got the NutCase name, and we should stick to that tradition, and blah, blah, yada, yada. And I usually get pimp-slap for making the post, and like that. But I decided that this year I would not do that post and I'm not going to. Traditions die (even among hard-core conservative groups). So, I'm not going to do that post this year.

Instead, I'm doing this one. NOW WE DON'T EVEN HAVE THE WINTER NUTCASE CLASSIC IN 'WINTER'???? :P :P :P

Just kidding, folks (make sure to read the sig line). I hope to make it up to Folsom and I hope everyone appreciates the effort Gator puts into making these things happen. Thanks Gator.

Did you see Folsom last year?

Post by fishwithwill »

The delta would have been a better place than Folsom last year for sure and that I'm sure the delta was sketchy, too. The lake was a wreck last New Year's. Basically fishing anywhere in Dec./Jan you gotta be a "nutcase" but I'm sure glad it is in California. Wonder what the Columbia is like in Jan. Brrrrrr. Also, call Supervisor Brack (sounds like brach's candies) with the State Parks at Folsom
Dam Rd. When I worked for the State Parks I thought alcohol permits were available for special events. No glass, they will pour out the beer and write you a ticket for glass. Seriously. No glass at the beach.

Anybody know of a good place to book a room for the Winter NutCase Classic? Something near the poker game and the launch ramp would be best.

OK Folks - It's official - all proceeds from the entry fees and raffle will go to Sue McKnight.

If you are not familiar with the situation - please read these threads.

http://www.westernbass.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16309
http://www.westernbass.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16337

Here's what I have so far for the raffle.

Gene at the Hook has promised something nice - will wait and see what it is.
Bill Kaufman has donated a Lamiglas rod.
There are others who have donated items as well but I cannot remember at the moment.

If you are interested in fishing or donating an item for the raffle, please let me know. I would like to be able to present Sue with a nice chunk of change for her needs.

Thanks!!

You actually ......want to .......meet......
da Infamous Hub Spinner...... and his alter ego Lev E Whacker.........
Not to mention his host body Gary "GT5Bass" Collins?

Mark - you are a sicker man than I thought.

He should be safe on Folsom though......nowhere that I am aware of where he can spin a hub or whack a levee......so we should be safe.

Just in case, if any of ya see a Evinrude/Everstart wrapped boat on Folsom on Dec. 16, run....run FAR AWAY!!!!

Vendor Booth at Nut Case Tournaments Permitted???

Post by Norv »

Do the Nut Cases allow vendors to set up a booth to display their products? I represent ESOX Rods, Fishin' Magician Tackle Co., Put a Sock on It and Toad Thumper Bass Jigs. I would like to set up a booth so that your tournament anglers can look at the products that these companies manufacture.

ESOX Rods manufactures light and sensitive rods that are reported to cast up to 20% further than their competitors. They also offer an outstanding pro staff program. Their web site is www.esoxfishingrods.com.

Fishin' Magician Tackle Company offers the Voo-Doo Bait. The Voo-Doo is the hottest new bait on the water. Their web site is www.fishinmagiciantackle.com.

Put a Sock on It provides rod protectors and lure keepers that protect your rods, lures and boat upholstery. The rod protectors and lure keepers come in many sizes to fit your different rods and lures. Their web site is www.putasockonit.biz.

Toad Thumper Bass Jigs manufactures a wide variety of high quality jigs for the tournament and recreational anglers. The jigs are made with Mustad and Gamakatsu hooks. They can be reached at toadthumperbassjigs@junco.com.

In exchange for permission to set up the booth I will provide discount certificates and products for your raffle.

I can for sure say that if I was not having surgery on the 14th I'd be fishing!!!!!!!!!!!! December Folsom is AWESOME!!

To add to that I do believe there was a Hippie and Ddawg sighting at a Shambre event a couple of years back we fished together!! :) :) :)

Dewayne, in all honesty my trim did go out last Xmas (thus I was not at the winter Oroville nutcase) and I was not able to get the boat out of the garage, Mike VW, Philip and Mr. Mayo can vouch for me on that one, and Mr. Greene will vouch for my sighting at a Ranger Owners at Don Pedro two years ago!! :) :)

Weather permitting, a halfway decent day, I will be there. I'm new to all this, have yet to fish in foul weather, but want to give it a try. Just don't want to get rained on and blown away. Never been to Folsom, and if the wind is low, will bring my Stratos 16' with a Yamaha 90. And a big pot of beef stew. Hope to see ya'll there.
