Wait until Black Friday. Last year TWarehouse was 15% off, then BTD backed that up with 20% off........

Just recieved the 10% off email from TW good thru 11-16. Lets see if the others top that.....As for Black Friday, I think with the way the economy is they should do 50% off deals. They still make profit on most of the stuff from the dealer mark up.

Make a net profit selling products @ 50% off. Not likely. Lets see, rent, utility bills, advertising, labor......oh yeah & the cost of the products.

I used to be a retail buyer in the bicycle industry. I would say that a rough guesstimate is that 70% of the items there had less than a 30% mark up. Higher ticket items....were less as in you made less money on them.

So, move product just to move product with little or no profit OR sell product with enough margin to sustain the business... IMHO, it is better for the economy & me, if they stay in business. They keep the economy flowing, keep some employees working & give me a another place to buy my toys with my disposal income.

Let me clarify....50 % off on "select" items for one day (BlackFriday). Maybe not making profit on the 50% off items, but attracting customers and in the long run having an Over all great sales day.

I dout having this type of "one day" sale would hurt the company. Actually would help it, attracting purchases.

The guys responsible for making TW what is today, and making the jobs it does in the San Luis Obispo area have done a great job and hope it continues for a long time....its come a long ways from the little mom & pop store in A.G. (Wilderness Outfitters) that it started as.....That was still a great little store.

More than likely BTD will like always. They will either match or beat TW.

I remember reading a write up on their operation not that long ago. Tackle Warehouse is part of Sports Warehouse, Inc.

Tennis Warehouse, Running Warehouse, Racquetball Warehouse, Skate Warehouse, Inline Warehouse and Art's Cyclery are also under the Sports Warehouse umbrella.

I believe tackle tour did a write up on them. You could do a search at their web site. I think they did it when tackle warehouse moved to their new location.

Bassin,
I am sorry for overreacting there.

It really gets me going when people (speaking in general here Very Happy ) assume that retailers or even mfg are making money hand over fist.

Of course, I was the guy jumping to conclusions and making assumptions there. Embarassed

Just read the Tackle Tour article on TW...no wonder they are so good. They really have a well-oiled, tech based system. Well thought out and executed. Thanks for the point to Tackle Tour.
