type of hook do you use and size for this bait? Do you use any special rigging other than just tying the hook on?
Thanks!

Re: Black Dog "weedslinger".....what
I've been using the Owner Beast Hooks 8/0 unweighted. I don't do anything special with them. I have two rigged so I have the option of a trebel in the back but have not done much testing with them.
Hope this helps ya. Oh and take that screw lock off the hook you dont need it.

Use the Gamakatsu Offset G-Lock hook in 5/0
Re: Black Dog "weedslinger".....what
The Blackdog weedslinger is a line through the nose bait and I've been told a 5/0 hook is optimal. The bait has a hollow belly cut that allows a texposed rigging.
The bait has gone through changes..the pair I have are stiffer than the newer ones.

I've been throwing them for about 2 months and what I've found that if you use a Gama Hook in 5/0, the life span of the bait is 3 times the duration of using a Owner hook.
The Gama hooks are thinner and won't damage the top of the bait as much as a Owner. Both hooks will catch you the same amount of fish.
I tested it on Striper to largemouth here on the Delta and on Berryessa smallmouth and spots.
