Here's what's going on with G. Loomis right now... First...Gary Loomis is retired, yes, however, G. Loomis was purchased by Shimano in 2006/2007 2006? Really? Don't tell that to anybody that covets the CL820XFA! circa 2001 or so, those were some killer sticks from WA, that was a line of quali...

They survived a train ride in a bucket across the country in the 1870's and went at it like rabbits to produce a viable commercial fishery in the bay area by the late 1880's- definitely a hardy breed of fish! http://content.cdlib.org/xtf/view?docId=kt1199n48r&doc.view=frames&chunk.id=d0e70&a...

Re: Stripers in Cachuma
I doubt its true since stripers don't reproduce well in closed lakes which means this would require future plants. The cost of the future plants and the degradation to the bass fishing makes it seem unlikely. They tried it at Santa Margarita and after decades their is less then a handful that still...

The 3.8:1 Curado is painful, you can throw the 5:1 gears in it and you're much better off- you can always slow down the retrieve, but trying to get a bait back to the boat with the 3.8 is a nightmare- great reel, just ditch the 3.8:1 gears and you're in great shape.

Heck, those bed fish pick up and spit the bait faster than many folks can react even while watching it happen. I figure most of the fish you get that time of year (such as when fishing stained or ripply water) were most likely not on a bed and it kept the bait long enough after you felt the bite fo...

That's the biggest midshipman I've ever seen, didn't know they were good to eat, although I think that's what Ronald McDonald makes his Fillet O Fish out of. I know the checkers and turd rollers find the usual smaller models pretty tasty- the X-Mas lights on the belly are cool-

This is a tit for tat argument. I never said the browns would be THE top shelf preditor, what I said is they are a top preditor and WILL eat smaller bass, trout, bluegill, and everything else they can catch. They do attack swimbaits here and when they do, that bait is trashed. Just wait 'till you h...

they were talking about stocking lake trout and walleye in there as well, I think- I still look forward to big browns in there, I'd be stoked. Stripers will compete for forage way more and reproduce faster then browns- You'd be lucky to see a couple nice browns a year caught-
