Clear Lake Just in Case INFO

The upcoming year end events here at Clear Lake always bring with them a myriad of questions throughout the month. We thought the following might help answer some of those questions, and hopefully assist those who do not get up to Clear Lake very often.

Some of the most asked questions revolve around services, lodging, food, and tackle/boat needs, and while everyone has their favorites and preferences, Lake County has a number of eateries and service providers most anglers have no idea even exist.

Let’s start with the dreaded Mussel Stamp. Where can you get one? Well, let’s start up north in Lakeport, and please forgive me if I leave anyone out. On Main Street there is Tackle-it, which is located next to the Skylark Motel and Clear Lake Outdoors which is on the south end of town. In and around Kelseyville, there’s Kelseyville Lumber which is located off of Highway 29 between Lakeport and Kelseyville. On to the south. Down south you have Clear Lake Bait & Tackle which is located on Lakeshore Drive next to the Redbud launch ramps. Coming in from Highway 20 East? Well, there you have Limit Out Tackle in Clearlake Oaks. Each of these agents has different hours and differing days of operation, so I will include their contacts numbers below. Please feel free to contact them with any questions, as I’m sure each would be happy to explain the program and assist you with any special needs you may have.

Services? Boat repairs? Well, it’s not totally out of the question as some would think.
In Lakeport you have Hillside Honda, and Merc Specialists McAtee’s Marine. Both are on or just off of Main Street. On the south end you have Mike’s Marine on Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake. Electric motor issues? You can either call Bob at Limit Out Tackle for possible service contacts, or Clear Lake Bait & Tackle does stock new 24 and 36 volt MinnKota motors. Tire issues? In Lakeport, there’s Mackey Tire, and in Clearlake, you’ll find Tire Pros.

Tackle shops? There are two up north, two down south, and one in the Kelseyville, oh, and of course, Walmart……Clear Lake Bait & Tackle, and Limit Out Tackle are in Clearlake and Clearlake Oaks respectively. If you’re in the south end, between these two you should be able to find whatever you may have left home without. If you find yourself up north, you have Clear Lake Outdoors, Tackle-it, and Kelseyville Lumber. Yes, Kelseyville Lumber does have a Tackle Department.

Eat’s? Despite what some would tell you, there are a number of really good ones around the Lake. Let’s start up North. In Lakeport you have Park Place, Sanducci’s, TNT’s, Renee’s, and the Blue Wing Saloon in
Upper Lake, just to mention a few. Kelseyville, Finley? You’ll find Angel’s in Finley, Woody’s Grill which is located inside Kelseyville Lumber, and the Saw Shop in Kelseyville proper. Down south in Clearlake you have Kour Thai (don’t knock it until you try this one, it will surprise you), The Cactus Grill, and Main Street Bar & Grill, all of which are on Lakeshore Drive. Then over in the Oaks you’ll find the infamous and local favorite, Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant, and last but not least The Country Kitchen.
