SCHWARZENEGGER SIGNS LEGISLATION TAKING A CRITICAL LOOK AT DFG AND COMMISSION

A.B. 2376 Signed in Wake of Sutso's Recall

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Sept. 30, 2010) - Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation and opened the door for dramatic changes in how California regulates its natural resources. With a stroke of the pen, the Governor approved a process outlined in Assemblyman Jared Huffman's bill based on the Treanor Report issued by The Sportfishing Conservancy calling for a fresh look at the Department of Fish and Game and Fish and Game Commission.

"We applaud Arnold's visionary move to re-organize the Department and Commission," remarked Tom Raftican, President of The Sportfishing Conservancy. "If Sportsmen want to continue to enjoy the outdoors this law is a step in the right direction." The bill was supported by a coalition of conservation and outdoor organizations including The Sportfishing Conservancy, Trout Unlimited, CalTrout, and California Outdoor Heritage Alliance.
