Saguaro Lake is at an elevation of 1,600 feet in the Tonto National Forest.

The lake has 1,195 surface acres, 33 miles of easily accessible shoreline, a maximum depth of 80 feet and is last lake in the Slat River Chain.

The United States Forest Service maintains the area. Excellent water quality and a tremendous amount of food source makes for quality bass fishing.

Largemouth, smallmouth and yellow bass are available to the angler. Other species found in the lake are walleye, yellow perch, crappie, sunfish, channel catfish and carp.

Saguaro Lake is the closest lake to the Phoenix area on the Salt River Chain. It is 41 miles from Phoenix. Saguaro del Norte Recreation site is near the dam and includes the Saguaro Lake Marina (which includes a restaurant and boat concession), a Maricopa County Sheriff's aid station, picnic tables, restrooms and boat ramps.

Saguaro enjoys a stable water level because it is the last lake in the Salt River Chain. Water managers try to store as much as possible here.

Climate temperature range from lows in near 25 degrees in December to high hitting 115 degrees from July through September. Precipitation generally ranges from 2 to 8 inches per year.

Report: 2 Bass, good size. Fished two hours before dusk. Slow retrieve, 13ft to 20 ft, carolina rig,3/8th ounce split shot, 12-14inch from top of hook, 4 inch Yamamoto worm, watermelon color, 02 hook, 14lb test. Around the corner of Butcher Jones back toward a cove around a rocky shore line. Found some structure on the finder and a few good size fish. Casted parallel to the shore line into 5ft to 10 ft of water. Nice hook set, solid top of the lip.
Tips: Slow presentation, find some bottom structure, look for fish on fish finder.
